his is the second edition of the Benin City Marathon which is a flagship sporting event designed to promote fitness, unity, tourism and economic activities in the heart of Edo State, Nigeria. The Benin City Marathon is positioned as one of the premier long-distance races in West Africa. it celebrates the rich cultural/historical heritage and sporting spirit of Benin City.

 

The event will be staged on Saturday the 14th of March 2026 along carefully selected routes in Benin City metropolis. The race will attract male and female runners from within and outside Nigeria. Apart from the main event for established runners, there will be short distance races for VIP and charity. Start Point of the race is front of the Ogba Zoo and End Point is the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.

 

With assured support from the Edo State Sports Commission,  Edo State Athletics Association and the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, we are guaranteed a very high standard organization and technical inputs.

Our other partners include the Nigeria Police, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp, Road Safety Corp/Marshals, Edo State Road Management Agency, Edo State Ministry of Health, Red Cross and Hundreds of Volunteers.
